A sacrificial layer with a hardness rating.
A liquid polymer that bonds to the clear coat and cures into a semi-permanent layer. Wax sits on the paint for weeks; a coating cross-links with it for years.
Contamination stops bonding
Love bug residue, sap and road film sit on top of the coating instead of reaching the clear coat, so a wash removes what used to need correction.
It does not repair
A coating is optically clear: every swirl under it gets locked in. That is why both packages start with inspection and machine correction.

Prep and correction
Two-bucket wash, clay bar, iron removal, machine correction, then a panel wipe that strips every trace of polishing oil.

9H nano-ceramic on paint and bodywork, plus vinyl, plastics, headlights and taillights. Dust-free studio, no driveway.
Cure and handover
Two to four days away from rain, dust and dew. Warranty and care instructions handed over in writing at pickup.
◆ 04 — Why Florida is different
The climate is the whole argument.
Manufacturers publish durability against temperate conditions. Central Florida is not temperate: high UV, hot sun followed by a short storm, love bugs twice a year, pollen for weeks and live-oak sap across half the older neighborhoods. The questions worth asking.
How long does ceramic coating last in Florida?
The written warranty is 3 years on Ceramic Shield and 5 on Ultimate Shield. Florida shortens the life of a coating faster than most states because of UV load and summer rain chemistry, so the warranty terms are set against that climate rather than a national average.
Why is it not a mobile service?
A coating needs controlled light to find defects, a dust-free space while it flashes, and uninterrupted cure time. An open driveway in Central Florida offers none of the three, and humidity or an afternoon storm during the cure window is what causes high spots and early failure.
Does it remove scratches?
No. A coating is a protective layer, not a repair. Swirls and light defects are removed by paint correction before the coating goes on, which is why both packages include a level of machine correction before the coating goes on.
What does it cost?
Ceramic Shield is $639 for a sedan and Ultimate Shield $799. SUV and crossover run $719 and $879 depending on package, truck $799 and $959, large SUV $879 and $1,039. Final price is set after the inspection.
How long do you keep the car?
Plan on 2 to 4 days. The range covers decontamination, correction, application and the cure window; a vehicle needing two-level correction sits at the longer end.
Can I wash it normally afterwards?
Yes, and it gets easier. A coated surface releases dirt with far less effort, which is the practical benefit most owners notice before they notice the gloss. We hand over the maintenance instructions with the warranty document.
